How Café Luna Uses Logo Stamps for Marketing
Meet Jammie Wimmer, owner of Café Luna. When Wimmer purchased the restaurant in 2015, she also inherited the rich history and culture of Café Luna. Since then, she has used stamps to market the restaurant, adding a personal touch to each and every to-go bag and envelope.
When was Café Luna founded? What do you serve there?
The restaurant opened its doors on October 2, 1991. Mama Gangle was a big part of the success and participated in the kitchen with traditional recipes directly from Southern Italy.
I inherited the European Italian cuisine from the original owner, and we have been serving the same traditional recipes now for 32 years.
How did the original owners decide to start a restaurant?
The original owner was born in *Calabria Italy. The family moved to the States when the youngest son was 7 or 8. There were four siblings and mom and dad. They lived in Ohio for some time and then moved to California. All the siblings, at some point, opened restaurants.
The original owner of Cafe Luna was the youngest and the last to open a restaurant. One of the restaurants in Encinitas closed, I believe, back in 2001. One of the four restaurants is still owned by the family, another owned by an ex-wife.
Cafe Luna is now owned and managed by myself, Jammie Wimmer along with my husband Skip. My son Dalton also helps run and work at the restaurant. Before I became owner, I was a server at the restaurant back in 1999 and worked my way up to management and then owner in 2015.
What have you learned from running a business?

*Calabria, in southwest Italy, occupies the "toe" of the country’s boot-shaped peninsula. It's a sun-baked region of rugged mountains, old-fashioned villages and dramatic coastline, with many popular beaches. Coastal Reggio Calabria, its largest city, is home to the Museo Archeologico Nazionale and its Riace Bronzes, a famous pair of Greek warriors dating back to the 5th century B.C.E.
