Customer Showcase: Bon Bon Bon
One of our customers, Bon Bon Bon, makes great use of rubber stamps in their packaging and branding. They embrace the "stamped" aesthetic to wonderful effect, and so we talked to Bon Bon Bon's owner, Alex, about the company and the choice to use stamp impressions as one of the brands key visual elements.
How did you get started?
Alex: I started working at an ice cream shop when I was 14 (right around the corner from TheStampmaker) and I was hooked - I loved serving people sweets. When I had my first piece of truly artisan chocolate, I had discovered my medium and spent the next 8 years traveling around the world to learn as much about it as I possibly could before opening my own shop.
What sets you apart?
Alex: We take a chocolate-centric approach to chocolate. Which sounds weird, but for us, it really isn't about the fancy bows and boxes, it's about really good chocolate! We spent years determining the perfect size and shape for our Bons and now we make them in hundreds of different flavors that are always changing, and that's where the stamps come in…
How have our stamps been a part of your story?
Alex: We've used stamps since the beginning to combat that whole "life is like a
box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get". At Bon Bon
Bon, you always know what you're going to get, because it's stamped right
on the package along with instructions for all kinds of things, storage,
care, eating, opening the box, etc.
How did you come up with the idea to use stamps with your products?
Alex: I've always thought that the chocolate industry seemed kinda antiquated -
printing the names of the chocolates on the lid of the box can be
confusing, but still people want to know what they're eating (for me it's
to avoid the cherry cream filled ones and eat more of the caramels). So,
instead of forcing our customers to stick their thumbs in the bottom of
every piece and put them back until they find exactly the one that they
were looking/hoping for, we stamp!
How have you used our stamps for special projects or events?
Alex: Offering custom stamps to customers who are having events or who have
repeat orders for their companies or families is something that helps us to
make our customers' special events or gifts extra special, and we really
like that.
