Make a Quality Stamp Impression

How to stamp a wood handle stamp

Stamping a wood handle stamp is simple and using the proper technique can make a quality stamp impression. Below are several tips for using your wood handle stamp.

  1. Make sure to tap your stamp several times on your ink pad to pick up a good amount of ink.
  2. Line up your stamp where you want to make your impression and press down evenly with a slight rocking motion.
  3. For larger stamps, make sure to slightly rock the stamp toward all corners.
  4. Make sure that you are stamping on a hard, flat surface. If your surface is not level, or you’re not able to apply proper pressure, you may not be able to get a good impression.
  5. Your inkpad should have the proper amount of ink on it. Too much or too little ink will cause the stamp impression to be illegible.

How to stamp on a paper bag

A popular use for a custom stamp is to stamp labels or logos on a paper shopping bag or gift bag. A stamp can work great for this if done properly. Below we detail a few tips to successfully stamp on a paper bag.

  1. To stamp on a paper bag, you’ll want to avoid stamping on the seam of the bag. Stamping on the seam will create an uneven surface and the impression will not turn out entirely. If the bag is folded, this will also create an issue when using the stamp.
  2. You may need to insert a firm, flat piece of cardboard into the bag before stamping to create an ideal stamping surface.
  3. For successful stamping, line up your stamp where you want to make your impression, and press down evenly.

How to Stamp an Envelope

Stamping a monogram or return address is one of the most popular uses for a stamp. To make sure that you get the best impression, you will want to stamp on as flat a surface as possible. Stamping will work best on a desk or table with the envelope flat open. If there is a letter in the envelope, or an uneven surface, the stamp impression may not turn out clearly. For successful stamping, line up your stamp where you want to make your impression, and press down evenly.
